Petroleum is not only part of fuel but of many products for everyday use. In search for alternative bio-based raw materials CDS speaker Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kai Sundmacher (part of the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering at the OvGU and Max Planck Institute Magdeburg) is doing research on how sunflowers can become detergent.

A group of scientists of the DFG Priority Programme 2080 including CDS member Prof. Dr.-Ing. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern and CDS speaker Prof. Dr.-Ing. Achiem Kienle won a poster award on the 4th Indo-German Workshop from 24th to 26th February 2020 in Berlin.
CDS Member Prof. Dr. Benner and Prof. Dr. Findeisen elected to DFG Review Board 2020-2023
Prof. Dr. Peter Benner has been elected into the DFG Review Board for the committee 312 of „Mathematics“ and Prof. Dr. -Ing. Rolf Findeisen has been elected into the DFG Review Board for the committee 407 "System Technology: Automation Technology, Control Systems, Robotics, Mechatronik, Cyber Physical Systems" for the period from 2020 to 2023.

Dr. Matthias Stein, Chair of the research group for Molecular Simulations and Design at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg, was appointed Honorary Professor for computer protected chemistry at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.
