CDS Progress Meeting on the topic Chemical Production

The CDS Progress Meeting on the topic Chemical Production took place on December 11th, 2024. 

The first lecture was held by CDS junior member Dr.-Ing. Stefanie Duvigneau, PostDoc in the research group "Process synthesis and dynamics“ of the Max-Planck-Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg and leader of the team "Synthesis of sustainable bioprocesses". Her talk "Modelling and optimisation of microbial biopolymer production processes" was met with great interest from the audience und encouraged questions and discussions. Dr.-Ing. Stefanie Duvigneau presented possibilties for cooperations across special fields at the end of her presentation.

CDS member apl. Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Edgar Haak from the Institute of Chemistry at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg then gave a lecture on “Sustainable Synthesis of Heterocycles by Ruthenium-Catalyzed Cascade Reactions”. During the following discussion round questions of audiences were answered and  collaboration with other CDS members, such as  Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Michael Naumann from the Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Medical Faculty and Hon.-Prof. Dr. Matthias Stein from the Faculty of Mathematics, was emphasized .

Afterwards, there was an opportunity to discuss the presentations over coffee and cookies. The event series "CDS Progress Meetings" will be continued in the new year. the next event will take place on January 15th, 2025 st 9:00 a.m. in room 026/027 in building 28. Prof. Dr. Robert Altmann, form the Faculty of Mathematics, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Benjamin Noack, from the Faculty of Computer Science, will present talks on the topic Key Technologies. The event can be followed online via Zoom.
