Another Heisenberg Professorship for the University of Magdeburg

CDS member Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Jan von Langermann was appointed to a "Heisenberg Professorship" at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg in September. The aim of this DFG Excellence Appointment is to prepare scientists for scientific performance positions while they work on advanced research topics.

The research and teaching focus of Prof. Jan von Langermann is in the field of applied biocatalysis, which is an interface between the disciplines of chemistry, biology and process engineering. It involves the use of bio-based catalysts to produce chemicals that are building blocks for pharmaceutical and agrochemical products.
