Using enzymes and reaction engineering to modify PET depolymerization
Polymers are from great importance in the various applications. This results in a large ampunts of plastic waste. The main contributer is polyethylene terepthalate (PET) due to its wide applicability. Thus, recycling strategies are being highly researched, with the aim to make the re-synthesis of PET without any significant loss in product property possible and to close the carbon cycles.

Dr.-Ing. Ronny Tobias Zimmermann was named Best Doctoral Student of the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg for the significant contributions he made in the field of chemical energy storage in his dissertation. The award ceremony took place on November 21, 2024, in the Johanneskirche Magdeburg as part of the Academic Ceremony of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

CDS Member Prof. Dr. Peter Benner, director at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg and head of the Department of Numerical Methods in Systems and Control Theory, and Prof. Dr. Heike Faßbender, head of the Institute for Numerical Mathematics at the Technical University of Braunschweig, are editors of the 2024 published textbook „Modellreduktion.
