Interdisciplinary and international: MAPBio symposium in Magdeburg

23.05.2025 -

Researchers from all over the world met in Magdeburg from May 5 to 7, 2025, for the international MAPBio Symposium to discuss pathophysiological processes at physiological barriers.

The Research Training Group (RTG) 2408 organized the event at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. CDS member Prof. Dr. Michael Naumann from the Institute of Experimental Internal Medicine of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is the spokesperson for the RTG 2408, "Maladaptive Processes at Physiological Interfaces in Chronic Diseases ," which has been funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for a total of nine years since October 1, 2018, in its second funding period. In addition to thematically focused research, RTG 2408 focuses particularly on the qualification of young researchers.

The MAPBio Symposium was organized by the doctoral students of RTG 2408 as part of their qualification program and funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Thirteen internationally renowned guest speakers presented their latest research findings in six presentation sessions. The broad range of topics, from host-pathogen interactions and immunotherapeutic research to epithelial metabolism and chronic inflammation, highlighted a variety of innovative findings and stimulated discussion. The in-depth scientific contributions were complemented by social events, including a group city tour and dinner at the historic Mark Fortress.

The symposium proved to be an excellent opportunity to build contacts and was characterized by cooperation, curiosity, and academic commitment.
