The Chinese mathematician and systems science expert Dr. Kang-Li Xu has been awarded a research fellowship for doctoral researchers by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

Scientists at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg  are researching optimised processes for the production of bioplastics. The aim is to make the production of bioplastics cheaper, faster and more competitive, and thus to increasingly replace conventional plastics as packaging materials with bioplastics.
