International researchers at conference
CDS speaker Prof. Dr. Michael Naumann and Jenny Gegenwarth from the Institute of Experimental Internal Medicine organized the 11th ZOMES conference at the Maritim Hotel Magdeburg, which took place from August 31 to September 03, 2022.
This conference series is held every two years and is an initiative of scientists working on three related macrocomplexes. 19S proteasome, COP9 signalosome and translation initiation factor elF3, also called "ZOMES", control protein function and turnover as well as translation.
The current state of research was presented under the heading "Determining cell physiology by setting the course in protein turnover". New findings on the structure, function and regulation of the macrocomplexes were presented. In addition, young scientists, including PhD students from the GRK 2408 of Otto von Guericke Universität, were able to present their own research projects and discuss them with leading scientists.
