Indian and German process and chemical engineers strengthen their close collaboration
From February 19 to 21, 2024, the 5th Indo-German Workshop took place at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur in India.
For several years, there have been numerous networks between Germany and India in the fields of process engineering and chemical engineering. In 2008 a series of Indo-German Workshops was started to strengthen collaborative research activities between Indian and German colleagues and to introduce doctoral students to current research activities.
The 5th Indo-German Workshop on "Advances in Materials, Reactions and Separation Processes" was organized by Prof. Rabibrata Mukherjee. More than 60 scientists took part in the event, among them 15 colleagues from Germany, including CDS speaker Prof. Dr.-Ing. Achim Kienle and CDS member Prof. Andreas Seidel-Morgenstern.
The workshop focused on the topics processes to purify biomolecules and enantiomers, novel concepts in reaction engineering, process systems engineering and control and innovations in material science. The German participants were impressed by the tremendous progress made by their Indian colleagues in the last years.
The workshop made it possible for the young generation of Indian and German scientists active in these fields to get in contact with eachother, to learn more about the country-specific scientific structures, and to gain a better understanding of the scientific and technological environment in India.
The 6th Indo-German Workshop in Germany is already in planning.
