CDS Progress Meeting on the topic of Energy Conversion

The second CDS Progress Meeting of the winter semester 2024/2025 took place on November 6, 2024 on the topic of Energy Conversion.

CDS member Dr. Techn. Liisa Rihko-Struckmann presented new findings and research approaches on the recycling of polyamides using solvents in her talk "Recovery of value added chemicals by amide bond hydrolysis". The team leader in the Process Engineering Department of the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems was recently honored for her excellent achievements in research  with an appointment as honoraray professor by the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg.

The second speaker of the day, Dr.-Ing. Nicole Vorhauer-Huget, is a junior member of the CDS and group leader at the Chair of Thermal Process Engineering of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. Her talk on the topic of "Electrification with simultaneous intensification of thermal processes through microwave heating" encouraged subsequent discussions about the possible applications of microwave heating and emphasised the close collaboration within  the CDS.

Afterwards the discussions could be continued over coffee and cookies. The next CDS Progress Meeting will take place on December 11, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. in building 28 room 026/027. CDS junior memebr Dr.-Ing. Stefanie Duvigneau und CDS member apl. Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Edgar Haak will present talks on the  topic Chemical Production. As always the event can also be followed online via Zoom.
