Dissertation Prize 2019 for Dr.-Ing. Marcus Wenzel

25.11.2019 -

For his doctoral thesis on the production of synthesis gas from carbon dioxide, Dr.-Ing. Marcus Wenzel received the faculty award for the best doctoral student of the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering of the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg for the period 2018 - 2019. Doctoral supervisor is CDS spokesman Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kai Sundmacher.

"Marcus Wenzel's doctoral thesis investigates different ways of converting CO2 with the aid of hydrogen using a conversion process (reverse water-gas shift reaction, RWGS). This reaction is a versatile tool to produce synthesis gas as a starting point for the production of a wide range of chemicals and synthetic fuels. Marcus Wenzel is addressing an extremely important issue in process engineering, namely the design of a process for activating CO2 using the chemical looping concept," Prof. Sundmacher wrote in his evaluation.

The award was presented on 21 November 2019 at the 27th Academic Ceremony, on the occasion of Otto von Guericke's 417th birthday, in the Johanniskirche in Magdeburg.
