CDS summer party: General meeting 2019 in the Mark Fortress
The members of the CDS and their working groups celebrated this year's summer festival on 26 June in the historic Mark Fortress.
The old walls of the fortress could not keep the nearly 40 °C outside temperature on this hot June day and so Magnifizenz Prof. Jens Strackeljan opened the event with a short greeting word in front of the heated CDS members. With the short-term procurement of hand fans, Mrs. Meyer had a great idea, which provided the members with a pleasant cooling off. After Prof. Naumann's presentation on the successes and the upcoming tasks of the CDS, two entertaining scientific lectures followed. Dr. Lisa Carius (Junior Working Group in the Institute of Control Engineering) reported on current projects funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and informed about the latest results in cooperation with Prof. Findeisen and Prof. Kienle. Afterwards Prof. Sundmacher gave very interesting insights into the topic "biofuels" and explained the advantages and disadvantages of the currently available energy sources as well as the associated challenges for research and economy. The exciting discussion following the two lectures reflected the high topicality of the research content. After the group photo, the members and Prof. Strackeljan continued the lively discussion with a cool drink at the grill buffet on the sun terrace of Mark Fortress.
