Five million euros for cancer and inflammation research

14.12.2022 -

The interdisciplinary Research Training Group (RTG) 2408 "Maladaptive Processes at Physiological Interfaces in Chronic Diseases" of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg has again received a funding commitment from the German Research Foundation (DFG). The GRK will continue to be funded to the tune of five million euros until 2027. The aim of the research is to identify new targets for potential therapies against inflammation, chronic diseases and cancer.

Since 2018, more than 30 doctoral students from the natural sciences and medicine as well as researching physicians have been working closely together to investigate the question of which molecular processes in the communication between individual cells are crucial in the development of inflammation, chronic diseases or cancer. A large number of the scientific results have been published in international journals.
