For the first time, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is organizing a summer school in collaboration with Taiyuan University of Technology.

Scientists from the Faculty of Medicine at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg have discovered a new approach to the treatment of neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases. 

Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg honors CDS member Dr. Liisa Kaarina Rihko-Struckmann, Team Leader in the Process Engineering Department of the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, with the appointment as Honorary Professor in the field of "Life Cycle Analysis of Process Engineering Processes".

CDS member Prof. Dr. Peter Benner, Director and Head of the Computational Methods in Systems and Control Theory department at the Max Planck Institute Magdeburg, was elected by the members of Review Board 3.31 "Mathematics" as their spokesperson at their constituent meeting in June 2024. 

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg has received a  generous donation from the Siemens Healthineers plant in Kemnath of high-qualitymeasuring equipment from FARO.

CDS member Professor Sanaz Mostaghim, head of the chair of Computational Intelligence at OvGU, additionally took over as the new institute director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI in Dresden on June 1, 2024. 

The Collaborative Research Center/Transregio SFB 287 "Bulk Reaction" has been extended for a further four years. The German Research Foundation DFG is providing the research teams at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg and Ruhr University Bochum with 12 million euros for research into energy-intensive industrial processes in the second funding period until 2028. The OvGU Magdeburg will take the place of the Ruhr University Bochum as spokesperson university. The new spokesperson of the SFB 287 is Prof. Dominique Thévenin, the deputy spokesperson is Prof. Evangelos Tsotsas.
